Study NameDungeness Watershed Fecal Coliform TMDL Effectiveness Monitoring
EIM Data Entry Review StatusReviewed
Study TypeTotal Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) effectiveness monitoring
Study PurposeEvaluation of the current water quality status based on fecal coliform concentration. Fecal coliform samples values are used to determine the trend of fecal coliform pollution since the initial TMDL study and subsequent water cleanup activites.

Study QA Project Plan DescriptionThe main purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and progress of implementation efforts. The study assesses the status of fecal coliform pollution concentration in relation to the targets set in the Dungeness Bay and all tributaries included in the initial TMDL studies. The sampling plan for this study includes twelve main sampling locations along tributaries flowing to the Bay. Fecal coliform sampling was conducted at 11 TMDL target stations in the Dungeness watershed during November 2008 – October 2009. A twelfth station at Cassalery Creek was included in this study to determine pollutant contributions to the marine environment. This station was not included in the initial TMDL study; however recent stream data have shown elevated fecal coliform concentrations. Other small tributaries to Dungenss Bay were also sampled when water was present. A one-time survey and sampling of seeps at the base of the bluff south of the Bay are also contained in this data set.
