Study NameToxaphene in Washington State Lakes and Streams
EIM Data Entry Review StatusNot Reviewed
Study TypeGeneral environmental study
Study PurposeThis study will analyze toxaphene, a legacy pesticide, at water quality criteria levels in two historic use areas: 1) lakes where it was used to eradicate undesirable fish populations and 2) streams potentially impacted by its use to control insects pests on livestock. A passive sampling technique will be used to concentrate and measure toxaphene residues in the water column. Eight lakes and eight streams will be sampled during the fall and spring of 2010-2011.
