Study PurposeRecently the Merit Mining Corporation has reopened the Lexington-Grenoble gold and copper mine. They have a permit to discharge into a small stream that is a tributary to Goosmus Creek. The discharge point is approximately 1000 feet north of the international border. Ecology's Eastern Regional Office Water Quality Program has requested that the Environmental Assessment Program sample Goosmus Creek for three years to monitor effects of the discharge on the creek.
