Study NameHenderson Inlet Fecal Coliform Effectiveness Monitoring
EIM Data Entry Review StatusReviewed
Study TypeTotal Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) effectiveness monitoring
Study PurposeHenderson Inlet and several streams in the Henderson basin are on the 1996 and 1998 303(d) list of impaired waterbodies due to violations of one or more water quality criteria. The Department of Ecology (Ecology) conducted a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) water quality monitoring and modeling study in the Henderson Inlet watershed from 2002 to 2005. The evaluation addressed fecal coliform bacteria, temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen and established TMDLs for fecal coliform bacteria. The technical study is set up to monitor and compare fecal coliform with target reductions outlined in the TMDL. In addition, bioassessment monitoring will be conducted at several locations within the watershed. This it too assess the effectiveness of pollution control measures to mitigate stromwater discharge into surface waters.
