Facility Site ID: 7873712 Cleanup Site ID: 1096

Site Background

The Site is undeveloped property that was used to operate a diesel generator during the summer of 2002.  An unknown quantity of fuel spilled or leaked from the generator during its operation, contaminating the surrounding soil.  Samples collected from the site showed diesel and motor oil contamination above state cleanup levels.

The operator of the diesel generator made an initial attempt to clean up the site.  Approximately 50 yards of contaminated soil were excavated and stockpiled on heavy vinyl sheeting.  The stockpile was left open to the weather and snow melt, potentially moving contamination off the vinyl sheeting onto the surrounding area.  No further cleanup activity has been reported to Ecology.

The Site was placed on the Hazardous Sites List, a statewide list of contaminated properties.
