Description Washington's Wetlands Function Assessment Project was a statewide effort in 1996-2001 to develop relatively rapid, scientifically acceptable methods of assessing how well wetlands perform functions such as improving water quality, reducing floods, and providing wildlife habitat. Methods were developed for different wetland types in Washington State.

Volume 2 describes methods for assessing functions of depressional wetlands in the Columbia Basin of Eastern Washington. This volume is divided into two parts. The first part (publication 00-06-047) contains background information and three methods, one each for three types of depressional wetlands occurring in the Columbia Basin. The second part (publication 00-06-048) contains procedures and field forms for collecting and recording the data needed to apply the methods.
NOTES Current applicability of the methods: Ecology highly recommends that those who apply the methods only do so after attending a five-day training session. We have been unable to offer training on the methods in more than a decade, and do not have plans to offer training in the foreseeable future. Therefore we can no longer support its use to assess functions of wetlands.
