Description Washington's Wetlands Function Assessment Project was a statewide effort in 1996-2001 to develop relatively rapid, scientifically acceptable methods of assessing how well wetlands perform functions such as improving water quality, reducing floods, and providing wildlife habitat. Methods were developed for different wetland types in Washington State. This document, Volume 1, Part 1 details assessment methods used for riverine and depressional wetlands in the lowlands of western Washington.
NOTES Changes and clarifications: A document listing changes and clarifications to Volume I is available as a PDF above. Changes include general comments, as well as changes to specific pages, data, and parts of the data forms. We also provide replacements for selected pages. Current applicability of the methods: Ecology highly recommends that those who apply the methods only do so after attending a five-day training session. We have been unable to offer training on the methods in more than a decade, and do not have plans to offer training in the foreseeable future. Therefore we can no longer support its use to assess functions of wetlands.
