Description This Action Plan identifies many pollution sources contributing to the river’s problems. Solutions to bacteria and nutrient pollution include illicit discharge detection, pet waste management, farm outreach, and investigations of areas with poorly functioning onsite septic systems. Near-stream (riparian) areas that do not provide adequate shading are a priority for lowering stream temperatures and controlling sediment discharges. Because algal growth can provide control of widely fluctuating pH levels, this plan addresses pH problems through the control of plant nutrients. The Action Plan relies heavily on local tribes, government agencies, and environmental organizations to reduce these pollution sources.
