Description During 2004, a sediment quality survey was conducted in the Hood Canal region of Puget Sound as part of the Puget Sound Assessment and Monitoring Program. Measurement of sediment chemistry, toxicity, and invertebrate community structure indicated that:
*Highest sediment quality was measured in shallow sediments near the entrance and along the eastern shoreline of central Hood Canal (22% of area).
*The majority of sediments in central and southern Hood Canal were of intermediate quality (78% of area).
*No sediments were of degraded quality.
