Description | Two seeps on the beach in front of the Port Angeles Landfill were monitored on August 18, 2009. Total and dissolved forms of 13 priority pollutant metals and magnesium were analyzed to determine if excessive concentrations were present. Dissolved copper concentrations were approximately six times the acute marine water quality criteria. Zinc concentrations were just above criteria. The flow rate of the seeps was small, 8 gallons per minute or less, having a negligible impact on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The presence and extent of a contribution through the ground/water interface is not known. |
