Description | Groundwater samples for BTEX and TPH-G were collected in November 2013 and May 2014 from 11 monitoring wells at Black Lake Grocery in Thurston County. Analytical data confirm the surficial aquifer is contaminated with petroleum products across the site. Contaminant concentrations continue to not meet (exceed) cleanup levels in several wells, including wells downgradient of the treatment wall that was installed in 2004. Elevated concentrations downgradient of the treatment wall may indicate the wall is losing its capacity to remediate the contaminated groundwater. High contaminant concentrations in wells downgradient of the wall and along the shoreline also suggest that petroleum constituents from the site may be migrating to Black Lake. |
