| Description | The 2013 study expanded on work conducted in 2010 which indicated that lower Indian Creek would not support salmon reproduction. A stormwater pipe, suspected of causing toxicity to aquatic organisms in 2010, was bracketed with additional monitoring stations in 2013. Monitoring included instream exposures of rainbow trout eyed embryos in simulated redds and ended with swim-up fry. Alevin survival was 4% downstream of the stormwater pipe and 60% just upstream. Fry survival 13 days later at upper Indian Creek was 93%. Lower site benthic communities also showed impairment. Surface water, stormwater, groundwater, and sediment were analyzed for metals, PAHs, and other organics. Results show lower Indian Creek to again be unsuitable for salmon reproduction and implicate a mixture of pollutants. |
