| Description | Groundwater samples for BTEX, TPH-G and TPH-D were collected in March 2016 from 6 monitoring wells at You & I Market in Pacific Beach. Water quality results confirm the shallow aquifer continues to be contaminated with petroleum products. BTEX and TPH-G concentrations did not meet (exceed) cleanup levels in two of the site wells. Petroleum contaminants have remained relatively stable since groundwater monitoring began in 2011, even though chemical and biological oxidants and biological nutrients were injected to enhance the biodegradation process. The analytical data collected in 2016 are similar to those reported at the start of groundwater monitoring in March 2011. Further source-area confirmation and control actions are needed to manage the continued contamination at this site. |
