Description During March through June 2017, Local Source Control (LSC) staff from the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Clark County Public Works Clean Water Division worked in partnership to identify and prioritize sites for MS4 screening and analysis. Screening targeted a broad range of toxic chemicals.

Screening found elevated levels of metals, PAHs and phthalates, flame retardants, PCBs, lube oil and grease, and PFAAs in the study area’s commercial drainages.

To better identify high priority clean-up areas, a scoring system was developed. Sites that exceeded (were above) thresholds were assigned one point per exceedance.
Recommendations for priority sites include: diversion or reduction of off-site runoff, additional investigation and monitoring, and possible outreach to larger non-permitted industrial areas.
