Description | For this project, a comprehensive assessment of historical coastline change trends was conducted for Makah Bay and Ozette and, in addition, an assessment of bathymetric controls on coastal change for Makah Bay on the Olympic Coast of Washington. The assessment includes 1) a historical shoreline and vegetation line change analysis using aerial imagery and lidar and 2) volume change analysis from recent high-resolution topographic/bathymetric surveys conducted by the Ecology Coastal Monitoring & Analysis Program using multibeam sonar, boat-based lidar, and ground-based GNSS topographic mapping. The assessment will inform a restoration design for the Makah Tribal Community to protect the ecological, economic, and cultural function of their land from future coastal erosion and other hazards.
NOTES | This report is accompanied by a Web Map showing the results of the shoreline change analysis.
