Description The Washington Department of Ecology is directing cleanup of smelter-related metals contamination on Northport’s waterfront area next to the Town Park. You are invited to comment on the draft 100% Engineering Design Report, which provides more details about how the Cleanup Action Plan will be completed. The plan is to remove and cap contamination and encourage recreation in cleaned up areas. The Engineering Design Report includes specifications such as the anticipated construction schedule; staging/stockpiling and waste characterization of excavated sand, soil, and rock; best management practices during construction; and public access improvements that will be installed after cleanup.
