Description If you are responsible for a spill of oil or hazardous substances to state waters, in addition to paying for cleanup costs and claims from third parties, Washington State may require you or your company to pay 1) a resource damage assessment, 2) reimbursement of the state’s expenses to respond, assess, and investigate the incident, and 3) a penalty for violation of the state’s law or rule.
The mission of the Department of Ecology is to protect, preserve, and enhance Washington’s environment. To help us meet that goal, please consider the environment before you print or request a copy.
