Coleman Oil Co Spill
Facility Site ID:
83844381
Cleanup Site ID:
12442
The site operates as bulk fuel facility. In May 2013, a refueling tanker overfilled an underground storage tank (UST). About 300 gallons of unleaded gasoline was spilled with no product recovered.
About 96 tons of petroleum contaminated soil (PCS) was disposed of at the Greater Wenatchee Landfill. The cleanup report stated only soil was impacted by the release. Samples results showed no concentrations above Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Method A cleanup levels were present at the perimeters of the soil excavation.
Groundwater monitoring wells were already installed at the facility to monitor a separate release. The wells were inspected at the time of the release, and no free product was noted. No increased contaminant concentrations were noted at a October 2013 groundwater monitoring event. This lag time should have been sufficient for impacted groundwater, if any, to reach the monitoring wells.
Based upon cleanup activities, Ecology has determined the site is no longer a threat to human health and the environment. Ecology made a no further action determination in August 2014.
