| Description | This 2016 revision updates and replaces previous guidance issued by the Department of Ecology’s Toxics Cleanup Program. The document provides guidance on the remediation of petroleum contaminated sites under the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Chapter 70.105D, and its implementing regulations, Chapter 173-340 WAC. It is primarily intended for persons with technical backgrounds and experience in contaminated site cleanup, including Ecology Cleanup Project Managers (site managers), consultants and contractors. Other persons may also find this guidance useful, such as owners and operators of facilities that have experienced petroleum releases; property owners impacted by petroleum releases from nearby properties; and the general public. This guidance is commonly referred to as “TPH Guidance” or “Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons Guidance.” |
