Description | Portions of Budd Inlet, Capitol Lake, and the Deschutes River do not meet Washington State water quality standards and are on the federal Clean Water Act Section 303(d) list of impaired waters. The Department of Ecology has been developing a water cleanup plan for these waters. We are required by Washington State law to use credible information to protect and clean up Washington waters. This focus sheet explains the scientific process used to collect data and develop computer models. We requested extra review in addition to inviting external stakeholder review. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency managed a paid independent peer review of computer models used for characterizing Budd Inlet and Capitol Lake. The final products addressed independent review comments. |
