The Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) is Washington’s environmental cleanup law that helps protect Washington’s residents and environment from the threat of contaminated sites. The MTCA Regulations, called the Cleanup Rule (Chapter 173-340 WAC) set cleanup standards and other requirements for the MTCA statute.
This document contains: 1) The Cleanup Rule (Chapter 173-340 WAC). 2) Focus sheet: “Process for Cleanup of Hazardous Waste Sites” (Pub. No. F-TC-94-129). 3) Focus sheet: “Establishing Cleanup Standards and Selecting Cleanup Actions” (Pub. No. 94-130). 4) Focus sheet: “Site Register” (Pub. No. 01-09-045). 5) The MTCA statute (Chapter 70A.305 RCW), which was amended in 2013. 6) The Uniform Environmental Covenants Act statute (Chapter 64.70 RCW), which was adopted in 2024.
