Investigation Ongoing With State Funding
Investigation into remaining petroleum contamination from three underground storage tanks removed in 1992 is ongoing. When the tanks were removed, about 60 cubic yards of contaminated soil were excavated and disposed, but some still remained.
Ecology funded an environmental site assessment in 2023 that found gasoline and diesel contamination remains in soil and groundwater at levels requiring cleanup. We will continue to work with the City of Clarkston to complete cleanup.
Progress at this site was supported by funds set aside for assessing leaking underground storage tank (LUST) sites across the state. Selected sites receive Ecology funding with the goal of reducing the state’s LUST backlog.
