Tacoma Silver Cloud Inn LLC

The Tacoma Silver Cloud Inn is located at 2317 Ruston Way in Tacoma.  

While developing the site, Tacoma Silver Cloud Inn found that soil and groundwater were contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons. Silver Cloud also found mercury and a semivolatile organic compound, bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, in sediments near the shore.

In September 2000, the Ecology and Tacoma Silver Cloud Inn signed an agreed order (legal agreement) that required Silver Cloud to clean up the site.

From 2000 - 2001, Silver Cloud:

• Removed five underground sorage tanks and debris.
• Excavated contaminated soil down to the groundwater level.
• Removed contaminated sediments.
• Placed a clean sediment cap over areas where they removed contaminated sediments.

From 2002 - 2005 and 2008 - 2009, Silver Cloud sampled groundwater to make sure no contamination remained above state cleanup levels. In February 2013, Silver Cloud submitted a final remedial action report, which documents the cleanup and sampling.

Ecology determined that the cleanup was complete. From February 6 - March 10, 2014 we held a public comment period on removing the site from the Hazardous Sites List. We received no comments and are completing the process of removing the site from the list.
