Site Background
How Was Contamination Found At The Site?
Contamination was first reported at the Site in 2021.
Soil and groundwater samples collected from the Site indicated that releases of petroleum hydrocarbons and tetrachloroethylene (PCE) occurred in the vicinity of two hydraulic lifts.
In 2022, two excavations were advanced in the area of contaminated soil.
- Soil contaminated with PCE and/or significant amounts of petroleum hydrocarbons were transported off site for disposal at a permitted landfill.
- Some soil removed from the excavation which contained petroleum hydrocarbons below the cleanup level was re-used as fill after it was tested.
Contaminants Of Concern
- Gasoline- (TPH-G), diesel- (TPH-D), and oil-range (TPH-O) petroleum hydrocarbons, tetrachloroethylene (PCE), and arsenic into the Soil
- TPH-D into the Groundwater
- PCE and naphthalene into the Air
Future Development/Next Steps
Once the site is developed as a parking lot, monitoring wells will be installed to monitor groundwater quality at the Site. Groundwater will be sampled on a quarterly basis for one year to evaluate the concentration site contaminants.
Depending on the results of groundwater sampling, additional cleanup actions may be planned.
