The site was the location of gas station. In October 1993, a waste oil tank was removed from the site. Ecology received a 1994 Closure Site Assessment report indicated petroleum contaminated soil was present near the piping associated with the tank. 

In July 2006, Ecology received a Limited Underground Storage Tank Assessment that detailed geoprobe drilling activities adjacent to the onsite USTs. Laboratory results from the soil samples identified gasoline, benzene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes above Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Method A soil cleanup levels.

In August 2011, Ecology received a 2008 soil and groundwater investigation report indicating petroleum contamination in soil and groundwater at the site.

In December 2012, Ecology received a report regarding soil remediation at the site. The report indicates that contaminated soil at above MTCA Method A cleanup levels remained at about 20-23 feet below ground surface where excavation of contaminated soil ceased due to logistic issues with digging further safely. Gasoline-range hydrocarbons were above cleanup standards along the west and south sides of the site, and benzene exceeded cleanup standards virtually throughout the site.

This site is in our Voluntary Cleanup Program, which provides technical help to owners of contaminated sites.

Voluntary Cleanup Program customers pay fees to cover our costs for technical help and reviewing cleanup reports. Sites in this program must meet the same cleanup standards as sites Ecology manages under legal orders.
