Removal From Contaminated Sites List
A comment period was held from September 1 to October 3, 2016. We received no comments and removed the site from the Contaminated Sites List.

Site Background And Cleanup
From 1984 to 2014, the site was a gas station. In June 1995, while upgrading the gas piping, they found a leaking dispenser. The site was then put on the Contaminated Sites List. The soil and groundwater near the dispensing area was polluted with petroleum hydrocarbons and related volatile organic compounds.
In 2014, the site stopped selling gasoline and removed all of the gas storage tanks and gas structures along with a total of 1,393 tons of petroleum contaminated soil. Currently, the site is a paved parking lot for the 7 Eleven food store.
After cleanup, we did not find any of the contaminants listed above in the groundwater. However, we did find lead in a few groundwater samples.
After more testing, we found that the lead likely came from soil in those samples rather than the water. The level of lead we found in the soil was far below the cleanup level, and the level does not affect drinking water. Ecology considers cleanup complete.

Voluntary Cleanup Program
This site was cleaned up under our Voluntary Cleanup Program, which provides technical help to owners of contaminated sites.
Voluntary Cleanup Program customers pay fees to cover our costs for technical help and reviewing cleanup reports. Sites in this program must meet the same cleanup standards as the sites Ecology manages under legal orders.
