North Marina Bayside ABW Site
Voluntary Cleanup Program
This site was cleaned up under our Voluntary Cleanup Program, which provides technical help to owners of contaminated sites.
Voluntary Cleanup Program customers pay fees to cover our costs for technical help and reviewing cleanup reports. Sites in this program must meet the same cleanup standards as the sites Ecology manages under legal orders.
Site use restrictions called institutional controls are in effect
Institutional controls can be fences, signs, or restrictions on how the property is used. For instance, an institutional control may prohibit installing drinking water wells or disturbing a protective cap that isolates contamination. These restrictions keep the contamination contained and keep people from being exposed to the contamination. The controls are usually listed in environmental covenants recorded with the county.
Periodic reviews are required when institutional controls are required at a site. Ecology conducts reviews to make sure the controls remain effective and the cleanup still protects human health and the environment. We conduct periodic reviews about every five years.

Public Comment Period February 23, 2023-March 26, 2023
Ecology invites you to review and comment on a document called a periodic review for the North Marina Bayside ABW Site. A periodic review is conducted at least every five years after the initiation of a cleanup action at a Site when required by the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA). The purposes of the review are to evaluate Site conditions after cleanup is considered complete, and to ensure protection of human health and the environment.
Ecology will review and consider comments received during the comment period and make recommendations for suggested changes, if necessary. The periodic review will become final if no significant changes are made. An additional public comment period will be held if significant changes are made.
You are invited to:
• Review the Periodic Review Report Fact Sheet.
• Review the Periodic Review Report, dated February 2023
• Send your comments to Ecology for consideration. Comments will be accepted February 23, 2023 through March 25, 2023.
You may submit comments online or by mail to Ryan Hardwick, Periodic Review Coordinator, at Ecology's Headquarters Office at P.O. Box 47600, Olympia, WA 98504
