In the 1960s, the site began as Simplot Soilbuilders in Sunnyside as an agricultural distribution facility for fertilizers, pesticides, and soil amendments. It is now operating as Simplot Grower Solutions.

Environmental investigations in 2007 and 2008 revealed agricultural chemicals, diesel, and gasoline contamination in soil and groundwater. In 2012, contaminated soil from a fertilizer spray equipment rinse area on the site was excavated and removed. In 2011, the main warehouse, office building, fertilizer storage tank area, and containment system were removed. A new office and concrete basin containment structure was built. A maintenance shop remains on the site.

A Remedial Investigation (RI) and Feasibility Study (FS) will be completed as part of the Agreed Order. The RI will show how far the contamination has gone, and the FS will detail different options, with costs and timelines, to do the cleanup.
